Japan uses waste paper to make packaging containers

Some Japanese companies have recently succeeded in using waste paper to make packaging containers that are as strong as plastic and can be recycled.
For example, Kao Co., a cosmetics manufacturer, uses waste paper as a raw material and has successfully developed a manufacturing technology that can produce containers of various shapes. Trial containers have been put on the market for trial sales and are as strong as plastics. The company is currently studying the use of waste paper for the manufacture of household items and food containers. Nippon Paper Co., Ltd. has also developed paper that is 5 to 10 times more stretchable than ordinary paper and can be made into various shapes using metal molds. This new technology uses all wood and pulp raw materials without adding synthetic resin, so it can be recycled and harmless to the environment.
